These are only half wheat because they hold together better with half white flour. Still better for you, and quite inexpensive to make. The lard adds a more authentic flavor (that's what is used in Mexico instead of shortening), but you can use all shortening instead of lard. I've also made them with a little soy flour or oat flour in place of the white flour.
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup white flour
3/4 cup hot water
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 Tbs shortening
1/2 Tbs lard
Mix all ingredients in large bowl with hands. Separate dough into 8-10 balls. Roll each ball flat, and cook on medium-high heat for about 45 seconds each side. Freeze well, and store well in fridge.
